My take on “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” is that it is a reflection on our modern society. Who would have thought a children’s movie would hold a mirror to our economy to show a parable for children. The movie is maybe without intention, a look at obesity or diabetes in our generation. The town eats all this food without malice or knowing the consequences. The way they throw away the food into a reservoir is a lot like today. When plenty people could be helped by this food, we just trash it. The “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” is a slap in the face for adults but in a softer, cartoon design. They’re basically warning us for what’s happening, but we won’t listen.
